Ogni tanto mi capita di ricevere strane richieste di prenotazione in lingua inglese, che alla seconda o terza risposta si rivelano per quello che sono: un tentativo di truffa. Non si tratta di un caso isolato. Tramite una breve ricerca su google mi sono imbattuto in questo forum
, in cui un collega racconta l'intera evoluzione della truffa, purtroppo per lui, a suo danno. Di seguito copio/incollo il testo delle mail incriminate. L'unica difesa davvero efficace è diffondere l'informazione.
I kindly write to secure reservation in your accommodation facility for 2 adults for a period of one week we will staying in your area starting from the 21st of MAY, 2016 till 28th of May, 2016.
We will be needing either 1 double room, 2 single rooms or an apartment that can comfortably accommodate 2 guests for the period of 7 nights.
Check-in-date: 21st of MAY, 2016
Check-out-date: 28th of MAY, 2016
Number of days: 7 NIGHTS
Number of persons: 2 ADULTS
Number of meals: ONLY BREAKFAST (IF ANY)
Number of pets: NO PETS
Get back to me with the grand total price for the stay as well required tax if any for our consideration.

23rd of July, 2016 till 30th of July, 2016 OR
6th of August, 2016 till 13th of August, 2016
However, if possible to accommodate us during any of these dates or period, kindly email me back with your rates and cost of your accommodation facility for the stipulated days in euros including discounts which is much expected considering the number of days we will be staying in that facility.
We hope to receive the best of service from your facility while looking forward to seeing your prompt and urgent response.
Thanks for your timely reply. We got your mail and after proper evaluation with our sponsor, we have decided to use your place.
A certified bank cheque of £4,500 from our sponsor will be forwarded to you immediately to cover the cost of your services. Also an arrangement will be made with a logistics agent who will take care of our flight tickets, car rental services and other logistics services which i believe you may not provide in your place, so we have engaged the services of a logistics company.
You will have to deposit the cheque in your bank account to get the clearance for the cash, after which you deduct the cost of your services and forward the balance to the logistics company (as a single cheque has been drafted by our sponsor to cover all the expenses we will in-cure during our vacation). I will provide you with their contact details as soon as we conclude with them.
What you have to do is simple, Once you receive the certified bank cheque, deposit the cheque in your bank account to get the clearance for the cash, after which you deduct the cost of your services (as a single cheque has been drafted by our sponsor to cover all these expenses) and forward the balance to the logistics company. I will provide you with their contact details as soon as we conclude with them. Hope this is understood?.
